Public Comment at Board Meetings

In accordance with the Open Meetings Act of the Ohio Revised code 121.22, a provision of Ohio’s “Sunshine Law”, and the Ohio Library Associations’ Service Standard A.4.2 which states that “all Ohio residents should have a defined mechanism for providing community input to the design and development of library services. A library is considered to have achieved this standard it if “has a written board agenda with a designated item on it for patron participation or comment”. The Board of Trustees of the London Public Library has established the following guidelines:

  • Meetings of the Board of Trustees are open to the public and the times of such meetings are regularly posted so that the public may observe the decision making process and be aware of Library-related matters.
  • At the appropriate time on the agenda a visitor to these meetings may be allowed up to five minutes for any comments pertinent to Library business.
  • Any group attending these meetings shall be represented by a single official spokesperson, who may be allowed up to five minutes duration in which to comment.
  • Any matter raised by visitors to these meeting, once officially acted upon by the Board, may not again be presented by a visitor for a period of one year.
