Pen Pal Program

Write to a pen pal this summer!

The London Public Library is working to reconnect people this Summer by pairing people from different states together as pen pals. Our library has partnered with libraries in Arizona (Page Public Library), Maryland (Allegany County Library), Michigan (Grace A. Dow Memorial Library), North Carolina (McDowell County Public Library), and Wisconsin (Rusk County Community Library) for this program. Here is the rundown for important dates during this program:

May 1-19: Patrons can register. All ages are welcome to participate.

May 20-25: We will pair pen pals and reach out to everyone participating

May 28: Starting this day patrons can come pick up their Pen Pal Packets. (Packets include pen pal information, paper, envelopes, and suggested writing topics)

June – July: Patrons are encouraged to write at least 3 letters to their pen pals

How it will work: Patrons will register by going online to fill out the Google form or by calling into the library. Once we have all the registrants, we will pair them up with patrons at other libraries. Patrons will be given their pen pal’s name as well as a little bit about their pen pal. Once you write your letter, you will return it to the library and we will mail it to your pen pal for you! Patrons will be able to pick up letters from their out-of-state pen pal at the library.
